Air travel is and will always remain the best and safest way to travel. One should not worry as travelling via air has been under constant improvement and checks; in addition, control measures reduce the number of accidents every day. Pilots get the best training, and plane maintenance is regulated by several bodies except for the airlines. Advancement in technology as well as air traffic control by other specialists also contribute to providing safety. This paper will discuss the reasons why aircraft remains the safest way of travelling. To commence with, pilots undergo the process of screening that ensures that they become highly skillful and experienced. License acquisition takes concerted efforts. It is not a matter of what a person wants. The government of the United States and airlines demand that the pilots attend two-year studies in college before proceeding to next level of acquiring experience. Many pilots working in airlines today are retired from the air forces in America and other nations of the world. This rigorous training makes it certain that the pilots are excellent in piloting compared to motorcar drivers who get a simple form of training and become get a driving license within a short period. Making even slight errors in the air industry can lead to fatal outcomes. The aircraft controllers, pilots, and the members of crews are instructed regarding flying hazards. Their goal is to prevent accidents but not react to them. The National Transportation Safety Board in America released statistics that revealed that in the year 2008, only twenty air-related accidents happened as compared to 1.27 road accidents fatalities for every one hundred million motor vehicles as per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report of the same year. Associated press made public the statistics showing the death rate of two persons for every one hundred million air travelers. Plane crashes are usually made a giant deal by the media; however, they rarely occur. Road accidents are numerous, and some are too minor to get much attention of the media. Since numbers never lie, it is safer to travel via air in comparison to other transport modes. Motorists are watched by nobody as they steer the wheel. On the contrary, the pilots, whether commercial or private, are observed from taking off till landing by aircraft controllers. They are informed about weather elements such as wind speed and direction. Air traffic controllers take time around the clock to monitor planes as they fly noting any deviation. Pilots are instructed on issues that they may desire to understand. Complications are addressed via radars, and all flight conditions are taken care of. Therefore, it becomes clear that pilots are never the only persons responsible for the passenger’s safety during flights. The technology applied in flying planes can control the plane from the cockpit to the runway. Planes have programs that detect the turbulence, thus predicting the altitude, intensity, and turbulence movement among other things that could cause havoc in flights. The technology in runways enhances safety via communication between aircraft members warning pilots of an approaching vehicle or another plane. New technologies such as autopilot have been invented to promote safety. The technology applied in other transports like sea and road vehicles is too absolute making them risky. In conclusion, air travel cannot be compared to other kinds of travelling as it assures safety. There are proper control and regulation to minimize accidents. Pilots get long periods of training and are not the only airplane controllers since there are many other involved. Technology also contributes to enhancing safety.
I am a freelance writer. I'm specialized in essay writing on different topics. I like to experiment with different styles and genres. It may be a small high school essay or research. What I like the most about my work is that there is always something new to learn. That's why I usually read a lot. The last article I read was Global Education Proposal. It may be interesting for you too.
